Reset apps
If an app freezes, crashes, becomes unresponsive or isn't working as expected, first try closing all recent apps.
Close all recent apps
- Go to Settings > Apps and subscriptions.
- Select Close all recent apps.
- Open the app again and check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, you can clear locally stored data.

How to close apps
Closing apps can help if an app:
- Unexpectedly closes
- Freezes
- Stops responding to your remote
- Has playback that becomes stuck
- Runs slowly or has other performance issues.
Your app login information will be saved, but you'll need to open the app again after closing it.
Close apps
- Go to Settings > System management > Resets & updates.
- Select Close apps.
- Use the navigation pad on your remote to highlight Close, then press OK.
All active and suspended apps will close without restarting your device. Open the app again to see if the issue is resolved.
If you're still having trouble with a specific app after closing apps, try reinstalling it.
How to reinstall an app
Reinstalling an app can help if it:
- Repeatedly fails to open
- Continues to have problems after closing apps
- Isn't working correctly
- Is experiencing storage-related issues
Note: Reinstalling an app clears its app data and returns it to a fresh state. You'll need to sign in to the app again the next time you open it.
Reinstall an app
- Go to Settings > System management > Resets & updates.
- Select Reinstall apps.
- Find the app you want to reinstall and select Reinstall.
- When asked to confirm, select Continue.
The app will be removed from your device and reinstalled with any available updates. Once it's finished reinstalling, open the app and sign in again.
